I believe that therapy should not only be individualized to support the child and family in terms of the challenges they are currently facing, but I also believe therapy should be individualized in terms of the location I serve it.  Providing therapy where the need is means that therapy can be delivered in multiple domains such as office, home and childcare settings.

1.

Individual/Family
Therapy

I primarily serve children birth to 18 with challenges associated with impulsivity, self-regulation. Individual therapy will be geared to supporting children in being able to control their body through increasing their vocabulary, recognizing their thoughts and feelings and supporting them through finding alternative strategies to be successful and safe.

2.

Trauma

I provide Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am nationally rostered tto support children exposed to physical, verbal and sexual abuse with evidenced based strategies.

3.

Caregiver Training

My role is to support parents and caregivers in increasing their knowledge and education associated with their child's behaviors and how to process and engage parents in finding strategies that work for their home and lifestyle in order to increase a positive relationship with their child as well as developing age-appropriate strategies to support their children's social emotional well-being.

4.

Early Intervention Behavioral

These services can be provided on an ongoing basis in the classroom to support the teachers and child.  Services provided include behavioral support for children 3-5 years of age that are having struggles with self-regulation.  I also focus on children who have dual diagnoses that can play a role in behavior.  Some areas of focus include Autism, Developmental Delays, speech/language or communication challenges that hinder self-regulation skills. These services can be provided in the childcare setting if requested

Therapy Sessions
My Approach

My role is to help you and support you in your journey as parents and caregivers through challenging times and transitions.  I am a behaviorist that takes on a strength based and family systems approach.  I believe that every child has skills and strengths to build on.  My goal in therapy is to provide both children and their caregivers with the support and knowledge to build on those strengths in order to feel safe, secure and build on skills to support them through a lifetime.  Let me help you in feeling support for your child and your family.  I also believe in providing therapy where the challenges occur.  This means being flexible to serve children and families in the home, in the office and in childcare settings as needed.

About me

I was born in Michigan and have lived in North Carolina almost my entire life.  I have two young children and two stepchildren.  I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both my undergraduate degree and my graduate degree in Social Work.  I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working in early intervention since 2010.  My areas of interest is working with young children exposed to trauma as well as dual diagnoses (specifically autism).
